In what could be reminiscent of a political logjam, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike has had his name appearing in the campaign council of two political parties for the same election.
Wike, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently serving as a Minister in the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government.
Mr Wike is a two term governor of Rivers State under the PDP had prior to the 2023 election fell out with the party’s hierarchy over the choice of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the continued stay in office of its then national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Wike had contested the PDP Presidential primaries, coming second behind Atiku Abubakar. After the primaries, he had requested that the then national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should resign as the party’s presidential candidate and the party chairman can not both be from the North.
The friction in the PDP later made Wike to work for the aspiration of Bola Tinubu of the APC who later won the polls.
Nyesom Wike’s name had appeared as Number 12 on the PDP Campaign List and has now appeared as Number 6 on the APC released Campaign Council list.
