Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Nigerian Army soldier who had been declared wanted over his alleged involvement in supplying military uniforms and accoutrements to terrorist groups operating in Nigeria’s North-East.
The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a statement shared on X.
According to Makama, the suspect, identified as 23NA/84/1939 Private Mohammed Yusuf of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Training Facility (NAOTF), Lagos, was arrested at about 6:30 p.m. on July 25, 2026, by troops of the 7 Provost Group led by the Acting Commander.
Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that before being declared wanted, Private Yusuf absconded from his unit and travelled to Maiduguri, Borno State, on July 7, 2026, where he allegedly went into hiding.
Further investigations indicated that the suspect was allegedly sheltered at Gomari Costain in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State by 25NA/89/12687 Private Baba Kamal Sale of the Corps of Intelligence, Dikwa.
Makama said troops acted on credible intelligence by placing the suspect under round-the-clock surveillance before intercepting and arresting him at Jidari Bus Stop while he was allegedly attempting to flee to neighbouring Cameroon.
According to the security expert, the suspect is currently in the custody of the 7 Provost Group, where he is undergoing further investigation into allegations of supplying military uniforms and other military accoutrements to terrorist elements, as well as the possible involvement of other collaborators.
Makama described the arrest as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle insider networks allegedly aiding terrorist groups. He added that investigations are continuing to determine the full extent of the suspect’s activities and identify any accomplices.
As of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian Army had not issued an official statement on the arrest or the allegations. The claims remain based on information released by the security analyst, while investigations are ongoing.
