The SHAMPSY Support Group for Alia 2027 has emerged as one of the most active grassroots political structures in Benue State, dedicated to mobilizing support for the re-election of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, as Governor of Benue State in the 2027 elections.
Convener Hajia Shamsiya Adamu Magajiyan, a respected community leader and advocate for Muslim inclusion in Benue politics, established the group to coordinate, canvass, and mobilize massive support for Governor Alia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and all other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Hajia Shamsiya, who holds the traditional title of Magajiyan, has appointed coordinators in each of the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State. These coordinators are responsible for organizing Muslim stakeholders, traditional leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and religious leaders to ensure the APC’s message of continuity and development reaches every ward. The group has already demonstrated its early commitment by producing 35 banners and mounting them strategically across the Makurdi metropolis. This visibility campaign is the first phase of a wider statewide mobilization drive targeting APC Muslim communities in all 23 LGAs.
According to Hajia Shamsiya, SHAMPSY is not just a political structure but a platform for civic education, peacebuilding, and community engagement. “Our aim is to ensure that Muslims in Benue understand that their future is secured under a government that treats everyone fairly, regardless of faith or ethnicity,” she stated.

WHY HAJIA SHAMSIYA ESTABLISHED SHAMPSY: THE ALIA RECORD OF DELIVERY.
The decision to form SHAMPSY Support Group stems directly from the visible and measurable impact of Governor Alia’s administration since May 29, 2023. Hajia Shamsiya has repeatedly emphasized that the Governor’s performance has given APC members across religious lines a compelling reason to organize early for continuity. Below are the key achievements that informed the establishment of the group:
1. RESTORATION OF PEACE AND SECURITY.
When Governor Alia assumed office, Benue was grappling with persistent insecurity, herder-farmer clashes, and widespread displacement. His administration prioritized peacebuilding through dialogue, intelligence-led operations, and collaboration with federal security agencies. The government established a Benue Security Council that meets regularly to review threats and coordinate responses.
For Muslim communities in LGAs such as Logo, Guma, Makurdi, Buruku, and Kwande, which bore the brunt of violence, the return of relative calm has been transformative. Markets have reopened, farmlands are being cultivated again, and displaced persons are gradually returning home. This environment of safety has allowed religious activities, trade, and education to resume, giving communities hope for long-term stability.
2. INFRASTRUCTURE AND URBAN RENEWAL.
Governor Alia’s “Urban Renewal Policy” has changed the face of major towns in Benue. In Makurdi, Gboko, Otukpo, and Katsina-Ala, the administration embarked on massive road rehabilitation, drainage construction, and street lighting projects. Key roads such as the High-Level Roundabout to Wurukum, Gboko township roads, and Otukpo internal roads have been reconstructed or are ongoing.
These projects have improved transportation, reduced flooding, and boosted commerce. For Muslim traders, transporters, and artisans who depend on daily movement of goods and people, the economic impact is direct and immediate. The Governor has also initiated the construction of modern markets and motor parks to decongest urban centers.
3. CIVIL SERVICE AND WORKERS’ WELFARE REFORMS.
One of the first actions of the Alia administration was to address the backlog of unpaid salaries and pensions that had accumulated over years. Today, civil servants, teachers, and pensioners receive their entitlements promptly. The government also implemented a transparent payroll system to eliminate ghost workers and ensure that genuine workers are paid.
For Muslim families whose livelihoods depend on public sector employment, this reform has restored dignity, reduced poverty, and increased household purchasing power. The administration has further pledged to review the minimum wage in line with federal directives.
4. EDUCATION AND HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT.
Education is a central pillar of the Alia administration. The government has paid WAEC and NECO examination fees for final-year secondary school students for two consecutive years, relieving thousands of parents of financial burden. Schools across the state are undergoing renovation, with new classroom blocks, furniture, and learning materials provided.
Tertiary institutions have received increased subventions to stabilize academic calendars. Additionally, the administration launched skills acquisition and vocational training programs targeting youth and women. For Muslim parents, these interventions align with their desire to see their children educated and employable.
5. AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY.
Benue is Nigeria’s food basket, and Governor Alia has prioritized agriculture through the provision of subsidized fertilizers, improved seedlings, and mechanized farming equipment. The government partnered with federal agencies to support dry-season farming and irrigation projects.
The administration also created a safer environment for farmers to return to their lands. Muslim farming communities in Gwer West, Agatu, and Apa LGAs have reported increased yields and reduced losses due to insecurity. The revival of agriculture directly supports food security and rural income.
6. HEALTHCARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES.
The Alia government has renovated and equipped primary healthcare centers across the 23 LGAs, ensuring that rural communities have access to basic medical care. The administration also recruited medical personnel and provided free medical outreaches in underserved areas.
Maternal and child health programs have been strengthened, with pregnant women and children receiving free healthcare services. These interventions have reduced the burden on Muslim families who previously had to travel long distances for treatment.
7. YOUTH AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Recognizing that youth and women are the backbone of any society, Governor Alia launched empowerment programs that provide grants, startup kits, and training in ICT, tailoring, catering, and agriculture. The administration has also ensured youth inclusion in governance through appointments and advisory roles.
For Muslim women in Benue, the focus on small and medium enterprises has created new economic opportunities. Women’s cooperatives are now receiving support to scale their businesses.
8. INCLUSIVE AND TRANSPARENT GOVERNANCE
Perhaps the most significant shift has been the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency. Governor Alia has held town hall meetings with religious leaders, traditional rulers, and civil society groups to gather input on governance. Muslim leaders have been consulted on policy matters affecting their communities, and appointments reflect religious diversity.
This open-door policy has built trust and reduced the feeling of marginalization that previously discouraged political participation among Muslims in the state.
SHAMPSY’S ROADMAP TO 2027
With the foundation laid in Makurdi, SHAMPSY Support Group is set to embark on statewide tours, town hall meetings, sensitization programs, and voter education campaigns. The group will use mosques, markets, and community gatherings to communicate the achievements of the Alia administration and the APC at the federal level.
The immediate goals are:
– Consolidate Muslim support for Governor Alia’s re-election.
– Secure votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term.
– Ensure victory for all APC candidates in the 23 LGAs and 32 state constituencies.
Hajia Shamsiya Adamu Magajiyan believes that continuity is essential to sustain and expand the gains already recorded. “We have seen a government that listens, works, and delivers. Our duty as SHAMPSY is to ensure that every Muslim in Benue understands this and stands with APC in 2027,” she said.
CONCLUSION
The SHAMPSY Support Group for Alia 2027 represents a new chapter in political mobilization among Muslims in Benue State. By anchoring its campaign on verifiable achievements in peace, infrastructure, education, agriculture, and inclusive governance, the group is positioning itself as a credible voice for continuity.
As the 2027 elections approach, SHAMPSY will continue to serve as a bridge between the APC and Muslim communities, ensuring that the message of development, peace, and unity reaches every corner of Benue State.
For Governor Alia, the support from structures like SHAMPSY is both a validation of his performance and a call to sustain the tempo of delivery. For Benue Muslims, it is an opportunity to secure their place in the state’s political and developmental future.
