The immediate past Chairman of Ringim Local Government Area in Jigawa State, Hon. Shehu Sule Udi, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and purchased a nomination form to contest for the Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Udi, who previously belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his decision to leave the ruling party was informed by what he described as a deviation from the founding ideals of the APC.
According to reports by Nova News, the former council chairman formally and publicly declared the ADC as his new political platform for the next phase of his political career.
His defection and purchase of the nomination form signal his official entry into the race to represent Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, Udi said his ambition was driven by a desire to reposition the constituency towards inclusive growth and sustainable development.
He also pledged to prioritise the welfare and interests of the people of the constituency if elected.
“I am committed to ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable development for our people. The interests and welfare of the constituency will always come first,” he said.
Political observers in Jigawa State believe Udi’s move could reshape the political dynamics in the constituency as preparations gradually begin ahead of the 2027 elections.
