Vladimir Putin has assured Abbas Araghchi that Russia will make every effort to support peace in the Middle East. The pledge came during a meeting in Saint Petersburg on Monday.
Araghchi, who arrived in Russia for talks, blamed United States for the breakdown of negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, noting that a ceasefire between the parties remains in place.
According to Russian state media, Putin said Moscow would act in the interest of Iran and the wider region to help achieve peace as quickly as possible. He also praised the resilience of the Iranian people in defending their independence and sovereignty.
The Russian leader further reaffirmed that Russia intends to strengthen its strategic partnership with Iran.
