
Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen was on target as Galatasaray secured a commanding 3-0 victory over city rivals Fenerbahçe in a heated Istanbul derby at RAMs Park on Sunday.
Fenerbahçe had an early opportunity to take the lead in the 11th minute, but Anderson Talisca squandered the chance from the penalty spot.
Galatasaray capitalized on the miss and took control of the game, with Osimhen breaking the deadlock five minutes before halftime. The Nigeria international finished calmly to register his 13th league goal of the season.
Osimhen thought he had doubled his tally in the 53rd minute, but his effort was ruled out for offside.
The hosts extended their lead in the 67th minute when Barış Alper Yılmaz converted from the penalty spot. Midfielder Lucas Torreira sealed the emphatic victory with a third goal seven minutes from time.
Managed by Okan Buruk, Galatasaray have now opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the league table following the crucial derby win.
