The cleric further warned that foreign interests may be attempting to incite religious conflict in , but expressed confidence that the majority of Nigerians would not fall for such provocations or engage in violence.
According to him, anyone who breaks the law must be ready to face the consequences of their actions.
“A call to peace for every Christian and Muslim. Blasphemy and lawlessness are both irresponsible and antithetical to all religions. Islam, in particular, is a religion of order and respect. Nobody is allowed to take the law into their hands. We also hope non-Muslims will respect what Muslims hold sacred and desist from desecrating those values,” Gumi said.
He added that Nigerians should be wary of external forces seeking to destabilize the country through religious tensions, insisting that peace would prevail if citizens refuse to be manipulated into conflict.
