Security has been significantly tightened at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly.
Hobnob News observed that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been deployed to strategic locations across the complex, including the main gate, Villa access points, and other entry and exit routes, to closely monitor human and vehicular movements in anticipation of the President’s arrival.
Unlike regular legislative days, access into the National Assembly is strictly restricted, with only individuals carrying official 2026 budget presentation tags permitted entry. The usual National Assembly identity passes are not being accepted for access to the premises.
To ensure smooth coverage of the event, chairmen of the Senate and House of Representatives Press Corps arrived early to secure accreditation tags for journalists assigned to cover the budget presentation.
At the visitors’ parking area, security operatives were seen directing commercial drivers to drop off passengers and vacate the area immediately. A police officer, assisted by a Federal Road Safety Corps official, was heard warning drivers that only individuals with valid accreditation would be allowed access to the complex.
President Tinubu is scheduled to present the 2026 budget estimates to lawmakers at a joint sitting of the Senate and House of Representatives later today.
