Two suspected kidnappers, reportedly in possession of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association membership cards, were neutralized by Nigerian Navy personnel during a security operation along the Inele/Inabe Road in Olamaboro Local Government Area, Kogi State.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night during a routine patrol by naval operatives deployed to the area following repeated reports of abductions and armed robbery along the corridor. The suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to carry out a kidnapping.
A gun battle reportedly ensued between the assailants and the naval team, leaving the suspects fatally wounded. Photographs show the deceased dressed in military-style camouflage uniforms, with ID cards bearing the name and logo of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association recovered from them.
Security sources said investigations are ongoing to verify the authenticity of the ID cards and to determine whether the suspects were linked to a larger criminal network operating in Kogi State and neighbouring areas.
Earlier in the week, residents of Jege in Yagba East Local Government Area were thrown into fear following an attack by bandits on the night of December 15, 2025. The assailants reportedly abducted an unconfirmed number of community members under the cover of darkness.
Details surrounding that attack remain sparse, and no official statement has yet been released by security agencies or the state government. Locals described the atmosphere as tense and have called for increased patrols and urgent intervention to prevent further incidents.
In a related development, terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, abducted the elder brother of the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, Mr. Tosin Oluokun, while he was working on his farm earlier that Monday.
These incidents underscore rising insecurity in the region, with residents particularly vulnerable to recurring kidnappings and attacks targeting farmers and rural communities.
