US President Donald Trump has announced that authorities have apprehended the suspect in Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting, telling Fox News: “With a high degree of certainty, we have him in custody.” He added that “somebody very close to him turned him in,” with further details expected at a news conference in Utah.
Trump said the suspect’s father played a role in bringing him to police, stating, “The father convinced the son.” He also noted the suspect is “28 or 29,” although authorities had earlier described him as “college age.”
The suspect has been identified as Tyler Robinson. According to multiple sources, including NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell, Robinson is alleged to have shot Kirk at Utah Valley University. Reports from the New York Post describe Robinson as a 22-year-old local from Utah
