The Benue State House of Assembly has turned down the nomination of Dr. Yangien Orguga as a Commissioner in the state cabinet.
According to Agber Kurugh, an aide to the Speaker of the Assembly, the lawmakers directed Governor Hyacinth Alia to forward a fresh nominee from Kwande Local Government Area, the constituency Dr. Orguga was expected to represent.
As of the time of filing this report, the Assembly has not provided any official reason for the rejection. The development has generated speculation in political circles, as many await the governor’s next move regarding the replacement.
Governor Alia is now expected to present a new nominee to the House for consideration and possible confirmation.
