In a strong show of solidarity, women across Rivers State under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS) have declared their full support for the suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, aligning themselves with his call for peace and stability in the state.
According to a report by Hobnob News, the group made the declaration on Sunday during a vibrant thanksgiving service held in Port Harcourt to celebrate the recent reconciliation between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Clad in pink attire symbolizing unity and joy, the women sang, danced, and offered prayers of gratitude for what they described as a long-overdue return to peace. They hailed the peace accord as a crucial step toward restoring political harmony in Rivers State.
“We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and Minister Wike for prioritizing the interest of Rivers people. This reconciliation is a welcome development and a turning point for our state,” the group stated.
One of the group’s leaders, Florence Itamunoala, a retired Director at the Ministry of Justice, praised Governor Fubara’s leadership and reiterated their unwavering loyalty.
“He has asked us to embrace peace, and we will follow him anywhere. We believe in his leadership, and we know this reconciliation is for the good of the Rivers people,” she affirmed.
The event also featured spiritual intercessions led by Pastor Nancy Nwankwo, the group’s spiritual leader, who offered prayers for the governor’s swift return and lasting peace across the state.
Describing the reconciliation as both a political milestone and a spiritual victory, the women called on all Rivers residents to remain calm, united, and hopeful as the state embarks on what they termed “a new chapter of peace and progress.”
