The Nigeria Police Force has arrested a 14-year-old girl in Katsina State for masterminding the fake abduction of herself and her 4-year-old sister in what authorities described as a “disturbing and elaborate plot.”
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the incident was initially reported to the Katsina State Police Command on February 20, 2025, by one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters.
The police revealed that after four months of investigation, the 14-year-old resurfaced and confessed to staging the abduction with the help of three accomplices aged 25, 19, and 16.
“In Katsina State, operatives of the Command acting on a complaint received on February 20, 2025, from one Alhaji Badamasi Bala of Madaci Yan Nono Quarters have cracked a disturbing case of kidnapping involving a 14-year-old girl and her 4-year-old sister,” the statement said.
Adejobi stated that all accomplices have been arrested and the younger child was rescued unharmed.
The police have not disclosed the motive behind the staged abduction, but investigations are ongoing.
Authorities have urged parents and guardians to monitor the activities of their wards closely, especially with the increasing trend of minors engaging in criminal activities with the influence of older individuals.
