The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke over what it described as the poor implementation of developmental projects across the state, branding his administration’s touted achievements as deceptive and unacceptable.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC lambasted the Adeleke-led government for what it called a “lackadaisical approach to governance,” particularly concerning critical infrastructure projects.
The party specifically pointed to the substandard road construction underway at the University of Ilesa (UNILESA), calling it a stark manifestation of ongoing maladministration under the current Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government. The university was established by former governor and now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
Highlighting another failed project, the APC cited the Aduragbemi community road in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area, which reportedly collapsed just one day after its completion due to poor construction standards and a downpour.
“Surprisingly, the orbit of the act of mis-governance which is the hallmark of the PDP-run administration in the state has moved to the University of Ilesa,” the statement reads. “There is no other name for the quality of the road construction on the campus but extremely poor, visible even to the untrained eye and shocking to right-thinking members of society.”
Describing the Aduragbemi and UNILESA roads as symbolic of broader failures, the party accused the state government of squandering scarce public funds on substandard projects executed by politically-connected contractors. The APC further alleged that these contractors, many of whom are PDP chieftains, are exploiting the governor’s lack of administrative acumen to perpetrate fraud.
“This is the poor resultant effect of a government whose ineffective chief executive combines the sensitive ministry of works with his cabinet,” the statement added. “There is a clear deficit of the required attributes to function effectively in both public and private offices.”
The APC has demanded that the contractor responsible for the UNILESA project immediately return to the site and deliver a road that matches the contract value and meets internationally accepted standards.
As discontent over infrastructure grows, the statement signals mounting political tension and renewed scrutiny of Governor Adeleke’s performance in office.
