The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to its longstanding partnership with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), pledging continued support in ensuring the safety and security of Corps Members across the country.
This assurance was made by the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Dr. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, during a courtesy visit by the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, at the NSCDC National Headquarters.
Dr. Audi emphasized the Corps’ responsibility in safeguarding NYSC facilities and personnel nationwide, stating that the NSCDC remains fully committed to deploying adequate security personnel to all NYSC Orientation Camps, offices, and Corps Lodges. He praised the NYSC for its instrumental role in promoting national unity, empowering Nigerian youth, and contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
“The NYSC is a crucial institution for national integration and development. As a key security partner, the NSCDC is fully committed to supporting its objectives by ensuring the safety of Corps Members and NYSC property,” Dr. Audi stated. He also assured that his office would remain open to any security-related request from the NYSC.
Brigadier General Nafiu, who recently assumed office as the NYSC Director General, said the visit was part of his initiative to engage with the Scheme’s key partners and stakeholders. He expressed gratitude to the NSCDC for its consistent support and cooperation over the years.
“I commend the NSCDC for its dedication and the seamless collaboration with other agencies involved in the NYSC programme,” Nafiu said. He appealed for sustained and improved inter-agency synergy to further enhance the security architecture protecting Corps Members and NYSC installations.
The NYSC DG also pledged the Scheme’s readiness to reciprocate the support of the NSCDC and deepen cooperation for mutual benefit.
