The founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has stirred conversation with a bold statement suggesting that Jesus Christ detested poverty and deliberately avoided visiting poor individuals during His earthly ministry.
In a sermon that has gone viral across social media platforms as of Sunday, Pastor Ibiyeomie told his congregation that biblical evidence points to Jesus never entering the home of a poor man, which he interprets as a clear message that poverty is not in alignment with divine purpose.
“Check your Bible—Jesus never visited any poor person’s house,” he asserted. “He visited Lazarus and his sisters who provided Him food. He visited Zacchaeus, a wealthy sinner. There is no record of Him entering a poor man’s home.”
The pastor explained that the redemptive work of Christ was not only for salvation from sin but also to break the chains of financial hardship for believers.
He continued, “You can come to Christ poor, but it is wrong to remain poor. That shows you don’t understand the spiritual blessings He made available through His death.”
Pastor Ibiyeomie urged Christians to shed poverty mindsets, stating that remaining in lack contradicts the transformative power of faith. His comments have sparked both agreement and criticism online, fueling a broader debate on prosperity theology within the Christian community.
