The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn the invitation previously extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi. However, Egbetokun has instructed the Kano State Police Command to gather Sanusi’s statement regarding the incident. This decision was made through a directive issued by the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to Adejobi, the withdrawal of the invitation followed the intervention of various stakeholders. The IGP emphasized that the move was part of the police’s commitment to ensuring that their actions remain free from political influence or misinterpretation.
The directive is seen as a way to maintain neutrality and professionalism within law enforcement operations. While the specific reasons behind the initial invitation remain unclear, the decision to withdraw it reflects a measured approach to the ongoing situation, with an emphasis on fairness and public trust.
This move aims to maintain the integrity of policing actions, ensuring that they are not perceived as politically motivated or biased.
