Benue ALGON Chairman Joins Walkout Session for Guma Youths, Promotes Skills Empowerment Program

The Chairman of Guma Local Government and Benue ALGON Chairman, Hon. Orwough Maurice, today participated in a special walkout session organized for the teeming youths of Guma. The event, held in Daudu, also served as a platform to introduce the upcoming empowerment initiative, The Alia, The Better Empowerment, aimed at equipping young people with valuable skills for self-reliance.

Addressing a large crowd, Hon. Orwough commended the youths for turning out in numbers to show their support for the initiative. He emphasized the importance of the program, stating that it would have a significant impact on the lives of the participants. He also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the youths towards the administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, acknowledging their commitment and resilience.

During his speech, Hon. Orwough condemned individuals attempting to take credit for projects they did not initiate, describing such actions as “cheap political tactics. He specifically cautioned against the spread of misinformation regarding the construction of the Daudu-Gbajimba road.

Those parading fake documents on social media, claiming to be the sponsors of the Daudu-Gbajimba road project, are propagandists, he stated. He assured the public that the administration of Governor Alia, in partnership with the third tier of government, remains focused on delivering tangible development projects that benefit the people rather than empty paperwork.

Hon. Emmanuel Terungwa Iorbee, the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol and Wardrobe and the initiator of The Alia, The Better program, used the event to enlighten the youths on the significance of the initiative. He assured them that all necessary equipment for the skills acquisition program would be provided to ensure quality training.

Miss Faith, an NYSC corps member posted to Guma, also spoke at the event, commending the visible infrastructural development in the area since she began her service year.

Other speakers at the event included Guma APC Youth Leader, Linus Akombo, and APC Central Youth Leader, Mr. Alfred. Both leaders assured Hon. Orwough of their full support and commitment to the re-election bid of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The event further strengthened youth engagement in governance and development in Guma, setting the stage for a more robust empowerment drive across the local government area.
