A chilling discovery in a Lagos apartment has sparked a police investigation and a frantic search for a missing boyfriend. Hobnob News has learned that a young woman, identified as Adija, a graduate of Lagos State University, was found dead in her boyfriend’s apartment in the Meiran area of the state, prompting her boyfriend’s immediate disappearance.
The tragic incident occurred on February 26, after Adija visited her boyfriend at his request. According to an Instagram user, @Eyeopener, who shared details of the incident, Adija’s family became alarmed when she failed to answer their calls. Concerned for her safety, they went to her boyfriend’s apartment, as she had informed them of her destination.
“The couple had been dating since her 100-level days, and their relationship had always been toxic,” @Eyeopener revealed. “The victim, whose parents reside in Ketu, often spent weekdays at her boyfriend’s place, only going home on weekends.”
Upon arriving at the apartment, the family found the door locked. After forcing their way in, they were met with a devastating scene: Adija’s lifeless body lying on the bed, covered with a duvet.
Neighbors reported hearing noises from the apartment the previous night, but they did not intervene, as arguments between the couple were reportedly frequent. It was only after the discovery of Adija’s body that they realized the gravity of the situation. “Neighbors reported hearing her voice on Wednesday night but did not intervene, as fights between the couple were frequent. It wasn’t until the tragic discovery that they realised the worst had happened,” @Eyeopener stated.
Adija’s family has declined to comment on the matter at this time, stating that they will speak to the press at an appropriate time. However, a close relative, Tosin, revealed that Adija’s mother was a single parent who had worked tirelessly to raise and educate her children. “The woman suffered so much raising them. She’s a single mum, and the lady in question was an easy-going person,” Tosin said. “Some days ago, I heard that the guy was calling the mother, saying he’s also ready to die.”
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident and is actively searching for the missing boyfriend. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect,” said police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin.
This incident has drawn parallels to another recent tragedy in Ogun State, where a man reportedly stabbed his wife to death following a domestic dispute. The increasing prevalence of domestic violence and its tragic consequences has raised concerns about the safety of individuals in intimate relationships. Hobnob News will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
