In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Edo State Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals has launched the “Plant, Nurture, Eat – Edo Girls’ Farm Project.” Led by Sally Suleiman, the initiative aims to equip young girls with practical agricultural skills, instilling values of patience, responsibility, and self-sufficiency while contributing to food security and environmental sustainability.
The project aligns with Governor Monday Okpehbolo’s SHINE Agenda, prioritizing agriculture as a key driver of economic transformation. By engaging young girls in hands-on farming, the initiative fosters youth empowerment, supporting key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Gender Equality (SDG 5).
Suleiman emphasized that the project reflects the state’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices while empowering the next generation of female leaders in agribusiness. Through this initiative, Edo State aims to build a more food-secure future, ensuring young girls acquire the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the agricultural sector.
