The construction of the Wurukum flyover in Makurdi, Benue State, is set to commence after a joint team from the Federal Ministry of Works and China Harbour met with the Honorable Commissioner for Works and Urban Development, Hon Tiza Isaac Imojime Orya. The team initiated a geo-technical survey at Chainage 0 on Makurdi 9th mile, marking the beginning of the project.
The flyover project was made possible by Governor H.E. Alia’s request, and the contractors have been assured of the state’s cooperation, particularly regarding compensations for the Right of Way (ROW). As construction begins, residents of Benue State are urged to adhere to traffic moderations and diversions over the next seven days to enable a seamless takeoff process for the project.
The Wurukum flyover is expected to significantly improve the state’s infrastructure and enhance connectivity. This development comes after the Federal government commenced work on the dual 260km road leading from Makurdi to Enugu, which includes the construction of a flyover at the Wurukum round-about in Makurdi.
