Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has launched a comprehensive development plan aimed at transforming the state over the next decade. The Benue State Development Plan (BSDP) 2025-2034 outlines the governor’s vision for achieving durable growth, fair development, and inclusive governance in the state.
BSDP is anchored on seven Development Pillars:
-Pillar 1: Security of Lives and Property*: Addressing insecurity challenges, such as communal conflicts, kidnapping, and banditry, to ensure citizens’ safety and well-being.
-Pillar 2: Agriculture and Rural Development*: Developing and modernizing agriculture to drive economic growth, investment, food security, and prosperity.
-Pillar 3: Commerce and Industry*: Creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, encouraging innovation, and promoting ease of doing business.
-Pillar 4: Infrastructure Development and Environment*: Aggressively addressing infrastructure deficits and decay to support growth and sustainable development.
-Pillar 5: Human Capital Development*: Developing human capacity to drive productivity, promote equitable opportunities, and protect vulnerable groups.
-Pillar 6: Information and Communications Technology*: Creating a digitally inclusive, innovative, and connected society where technology drives economic growth and improves quality of life.
-Pillar 7: Political and Economic Governance*: Improving governance quality through strategic vision, responsiveness, equity, inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability.
The plan seeks to unlock the state’s full potential, leveraging its agricultural resources, arable lands, and hardworking populace. Governor Alia’s administration aims to tackle challenges such as infrastructure shortfall, unemployment, and insecurity, and position Benue State as a hub for industrial and economic activities.
The BSDP 2025-2034 will serve as a guide for policymakers, investors, development partners, and citizens in building a more prosperous and resilient Benue State.
