Lakurawa Terrorist Sect Kills Two Policemen, Steals Over 200 Cows in Kebbi Attack

Gunmen, believed to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group, killed two policemen and stole over 200 cows from Natsini village in Kebbi State’s Argungu Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Thursday around 11 pm.

Sources from the village reported that the policemen were stationed at a checkpoint on the Augie/Kangiwa road when more than 50 terrorists on motorcycles attacked. After overpowering the policemen, they killed two officers and then proceeded to rustle cows from the village.

Natsini village is located along the Augie/Kangiwa road, about 5 kilometers from Argungu town.

Abubakar Augie, a local, shared with Weekend Trust that the stolen cows belonged to Lawali Black, a prominent civil servant in the area. He stated, “The Lakurawa were more than 50 on motorcycles; after overpowering the few policemen at the checkpoint, they went to where the cows were kept in his ranch and went away with them.”

The local government chairman, Aliyu Gulma, confirmed the incident and mentioned that a security meeting was underway. He added that the state government had instructed security forces to pursue the terrorists and recover the stolen cattle.

At the time of reporting, the police command’s public relations officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, could not be reached for comment.
