Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are set to experience prolonged power outages starting next week, Monday, January 6. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company announced that several areas of the capital will be affected due to the relocation of the 33KV DC Airport Feeder and 132KV Kukwaba-Apo Transmission Line Towers along the Outer Southern Expressway.
The relocation operation is scheduled to take place between January 6 and 31, with power interruptions expected from January 6 to 21. The affected areas include Lugbe, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, and several other parts of Abuja.
The company apologized for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding. This development comes on the heels of a recent power disruption caused by the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s planned maintenance exercises at two transmission substations. Despite these efforts, FCT residents continue to experience poor power supply.
