Embattled human rights activist, Dele Farotimi, declared on Sunday that he is prepared to face his ongoing trial.
Farotimi stated that his “battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed,” and he is ready for the upcoming fight.
In a social media post, the activist and lawyer expressed his strength to confront powerful forces, saying, “I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers, but I am human enough to retain the capacity to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims.”
Farotimi further emphasized his readiness, noting, “My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed, I am ready to war.” He added that his “resolve was NEVER tested” but that he had been waiting for the next phase of the battle to begin.
He also stated, “I KNEW that the first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment.”
Weeks earlier, a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti had granted Farotimi a N30 million bail. He was arrested for allegedly defaming Afe Babalola, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD). Farotimi was released after meeting the bail conditions.
