Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to undergo prostate removal surgery on Sunday following a diagnosis of a urinary tract infection, according to his office. The 75-year-old leader had a test at Hadassah Hospital on Wednesday, where he was “diagnosed with a urinary tract infection resulting from a benign prostate enlargement,” the prime minister’s office stated. Due to this, Netanyahu will proceed with the surgery.
In March, Netanyahu had a hernia surgery, and in July of the previous year, doctors implanted a pacemaker after a medical scare.
Earlier this month, Netanyahu appeared in court for his ongoing trial concerning alleged corruption. Meanwhile, Israel’s attorney general recently instructed the police to investigate Netanyahu’s wife, Susie, on suspicion of harassing political opponents and a witness involved in the corruption case. The investigation comes amid mounting scrutiny surrounding Netanyahu and his family, further adding to the political pressure on the embattled prime minister as he faces legal challenges and health issues.
