Dangote Refinery Begins Exporting Petrol to African Countries, Eyes Global Market

Dangote Refinery has commenced exporting Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to several African countries, including Cameroon, Angola, Ghana, and South Africa. This development was disclosed by Devakumar Edwin, the Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, during a meeting with a delegation from the Japanese Business Community in Nigeria.

Edwin confirmed that products from the refinery, including diesel and jet fuel, are already being exported globally, meeting international standards. He added that while petrol has been exported to African markets, jet fuel is seeing significant demand in Europe.

The refinery, designed and constructed by Nigerians, is positioned to serve the global market. Edwin expressed pride in the world’s largest single-train refinery complex, built with cutting-edge technology. He emphasized the potential for collaboration with Japanese businesses, citing the refinery’s use of Japanese equipment and the company’s commitment to embracing advanced technology.

A Japanese delegation that toured the facilities commended the refinery and petrochemicals complex, calling it an astonishing masterpiece that demonstrates Nigeria’s technological advancements on the global stage. Takashi Oku, Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation, praised the refinery as a remarkable project that underscores Nigeria’s technological progress and reinforces its leading position in Africa.
