The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has published a list of 9,532 alleged land title debtors in Abuja, including several high-profile individuals and government institutions. The list, released on November 26, 2024, gives defaulters two weeks to settle their outstanding payments for Certificates of Occupancy (C of O).
Among those listed are former Head of State Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), who owes N152 million for a plot of land in Asokoro; former Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom, who owes N950,000 for land in Bazango; and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, who owes N18 million for a plot in Carraway Dallas.
The FCTA has cautioned that failure to meet the payment deadline could lead to the revocation of land titles. Payments are to be made via e-payment to the “FCT Department of Land Administration” account.
Other defaulters include several federal agencies, such as the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Nigerian Navy, and the Nigerian Police Force. The Lagos governor’s lodge in Asokoro, the Kaduna State Government, and the State House Abuja are also listed as debtors.
