BREAKING: Yahaya Bello Surrenders to EFCC Over Alleged Misappropriation of Funds

Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has again responded to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding alleged misappropriation of funds.

Sources revealed that the former governor appeared at the EFCC office on Tuesday morning, accompanied by his legal team.

Bello’s visit follows a Supreme Court ruling that dismissed a case challenging the EFCC’s constitutionality.

It was reported that Bello drove himself to the EFCC office in a black Hilux, accompanied by his lawyers.

Last week, there were speculations about his visit to the EFCC. However, his media aides did not respond to inquiries seeking confirmation.

During the last hearing of the fresh charges against Bello, held on November 14 before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, the EFCC requested an adjournment to November 27. The agency explained that the 30-day window for compliance with an earlier summons was still valid.

The EFCC admitted his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to administrative bail while requesting additional time from the court for the 1st Defendant, Bello, to appear.

The case was subsequently adjourned by Justice Anenih to enable Bello’s arraignment.
