Two light aircraft collided near Sydney, Australia’s largest city, resulting in three deaths, local police reported Saturday.
Emergency services received calls just before noon, notifying them that two light planes had crashed near Oakdale, a town located about an hour’s drive southwest of Sydney.
“Two crime scenes have been established, and three men have been located deceased,” New South Wales Police reported.
While the exact cause of the collision has yet to be determined, authorities have cordoned off areas of dense bushland nearby.
Police indicated they would share further information as they investigate the factors that led to the tragic accident.
