Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, has alleged that Peter Obi’s group is fighting him for refusing to join forces ahead of the 2023 elections. Wike claimed Obi and his lobbyists intensely lobbied him, but he declined, believing Obi wouldn’t win.
In Port Harcourt, The Former Rivers State Governor said, “Peter Obi’s group lobbied me so much. They cannot deny it. And I said ‘look, this one won’t fly.’ ‘Rivers State will not vote for where it’s not going to fly’.” He added, “There’s also a gang up and I say, ‘look, enough is enough.’ They want to fight us back. They’re fighting themselves.”
This follows reports of alleged election rigging and result manipulation in Rivers State. Wike was accused of deploying thugs to influence voting and engage in vote-buying.
The 2023 presidential election saw Bola Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi each winning 12 states. Tinubu was declared the winner.
