Father’s Desperate Bid for Son’s New Visa Ends in Death During Native Ritual

Tragedy struck in Enugu State when Chikwado Eze, a young man from Ugbaike, died during a fortification ritual at a native doctor’s shrine. Chikwado had returned to his village after his visa expired, and his father, Uwakwe Eze, sought spiritual intervention for his son’s success abroad.

Native doctor Onuwa instructed that Chikwado be buried alive for 1.5 hours to undergo the ritual. Tragically, when exhumed, Chikwado was found dead. The Enugu State Police Command arrested Uwakwe Eze and Onuwa in connection with the incident.

“The Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding Chikwado’s death and will ensure that justice is served,” said a police spokesperson.

The Ugbaike community is reeling in shock, with many expressing outrage and sadness. “This is a senseless and heartbreaking incident,” said a local resident. “It’s unacceptable that such harmful practices still exist in our society.”

A local leader emphasized, “We must work together to eradicate such harmful beliefs and ensure that our youth are protected from exploitation.”

The Enugu State Government has been urged to take swift action to address the issue and prevent similar incidents. The tragic incident highlights the need for education and awareness about the dangers of harmful traditional practices.
