Ubiaja Unites for Akpakomiza: Town Shuts Down in Massive Show of Support for Edo APC

As the September 21, 2024, governorship election approaches, the residents of Ubiaja, comprising wards 6 and 7, demonstrated their unwavering support for Senator Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate, by shutting down the town on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

The ward-level campaigns, held at separate locations, were marked by jubilant crowds, folk songs, and ecstatic frenzy, indicating a strong desire to see Senator Okpebholo become the next executive governor of Edo State.

Party leaders delivered impassioned speeches, urging the crowd to remain steadfast, courageous, and focused while avoiding distractions from the opposition. The massive turnout was described as “organic” by some speakers, contradicting social media narratives that suggested Senator Okpebholo lacked followership.

The crowd was encouraged to vote en masse on September 21 and disregard opposition attempts to win the election through social media.

The event’s highlights included the reception of Adolphus Arebanmhen Aletor, a former Labour Party aspirant, who announced his support for Senator Okpebholo and the APC. Aletor highlighted his philanthropic efforts, including payment of teachers’ salaries, examination scholarships, and revitalization of Illushi secondary school.

His decision to support Senator Okpebholo was based on their shared vision for good governance.

As the campaign gains momentum, with the people of Ubiaja firmly backing Senator Okpebholo, it is clear that he is poised to become the next governor of Edo State.

The Ward level campaigns were led by foremost law makers, Hon Festus Igbelokoto Edughele of Ward 7 and Chief Festus Ebea of ward 6. Also in attendance were Member representing Esan SE and Esan NE federal constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon (Prince) Odi Okojie, Hon Sam Oboh, Hon Joe Ikpea, Hon Emma Idogen and many others.
