Labour Party chairman Julius Abure has disowned the outcome of a stakeholders meeting convened by Abia State Governor Alex Otti, calling it “illegal and unconstitutional.”
Abure, in a statement by party publicity secretary Obiora Ifoh, urged members to disregard the meeting’s resolutions.
“The Labour Party disowns the outcome of the Umuahia stakeholders meeting convened by Governor Alex Otti. The meeting is illegal and unconstitutional, and we urge our members to disregard any resolutions from this gathering”, the statement said.
The meeting was summoned to address the party’s leadership crisis, but Abure claims it was not organized by the party.
It would be recalled that the stakeholders meeting recently held dissolved the Abure-led administration and established a Caretaker Committee to be chaired by Mrs. Nnenadi Usman with Senator Darlington Nwokeocha as Secretary, the committee will organize a National Convention in due course.
The meeting was attended by Peter Obi, LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State; LP senators, House of Reps members, House of Assembly members, and other stakeholders. The party has been “recovered,” mirroring the recovery of APGA.
