Former Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Doyin Okupe has responded to allegations of betrayal from Peter Obi’s supporters, known as Obidients.
Okupe in response said that it was actually Obi who betrayed Atiku Abubakar, his former principal, by dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019.
Okupe said he convinced Obi to leave the PDP and supported his presidential ambition after discussing with Pa Ayo Adebanjo in 2022.
He further admitted that the Labour Party lacked the capacity to win the 2023 presidential election and reveals that the party also rigged the election, but still lost.
Okupe states, “Atiku brought Peter Obi into national politics, and he betrayed him due to personal interests.”
He denies betraying Obi, saying, “Our initial ambition was for a Southerner to win, and Tinubu has won, making me happy.”
Okupe concludes, “I didn’t betray Peter Obi; it is Peter Obi who betrayed Atiku Abubakar, his master.”
