President Tinubu Meets Labour Leaders in Closed-Door Meeting Over Minimum Wage Dispute

President Bola Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with the leadership of organised labour at the State House, Abuja, to address the contentious issue of the new national minimum wage. The meeting, which began at 2 pm, sees the President engaging with representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), led by their respective presidents, Joe Ajaero and Festus Osifo.

The meeting comes on the heels of the Tripartite Committee’s submission of conflicting figures for the new national minimum wage. While the organised private sector and government team proposed N62,000, labour unions are demanding N250,000. The discussion is expected to focus on finding a mutually acceptable solution to the minimum wage dispute.

The outcome of this meeting is eagerly anticipated, as it may determine the next course of action for the labour unions and the government. Stay tuned for updates as more information becomes available.
