Former Director-General of the Labour Party (LP), campaign organisation, Akin Osuntokun has spoken on the possibility of Peter Obi returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Osuntokun said Obi’s return to the PDP would only be possible if the party offers him the presidential ticket in 2027.
He emphasized that Obi’s decision would depend on the assurances he receives from the party’s leadership and political godfathers.
In a similar development, Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, has earlier expressed his willingness to support Obi if the party zones the presidential ticket to the South-East in 2027.
Osuntokun also hinted at the possibility of a merger between the LP and PDP ahead of the 2027 elections, which could potentially reshape the political landscape.
