Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Dangote Group, has announced that Nigeria will no longer need to import premium motor spirit (PMS) by June, thanks to the Dangote Refinery’s production capacity. Speaking at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali, Dangote revealed that the refinery has already begun supplying diesel and aviation fuel in Nigeria and has the capacity to meet the diesel and petrol needs of West Africa and the aviation fuel demand of the entire African continent.
Dangote emphasized that the refinery will produce enough gasoline to supply West Africa, diesel to supply West and Central Africa, and aviation fuel to supply the entire continent, with excess capacity for export to Brazil and Mexico. He also highlighted the company’s efforts to produce raw materials for detergents, fertilizers, and other products, aiming to make Africa self-sufficient in these areas.
The billionaire entrepreneur expressed his vision for Africa’s economic independence, stating that the continent should focus on producing finished products and creating jobs, rather than just exporting raw materials. He encouraged Africans to change the narrative and work towards economic self-sufficiency.
With the Dangote Refinery’s production capacity and expansion plans, Nigeria and Africa are poised to become major players in the global energy market, reducing reliance on imports and creating new economic opportunities.
