Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared victory over his detractors, stating that they are now victims of their own plots.
He made this statement while receiving the national and state leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) at Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
The IYC leaders were on a solidarity walk to mark the 2024 Issac Adaka Boro Day.
Governor Fubara expressed his appreciation for the Ijaw Youth Council’s support and urged the Ijaw Nation to join in the celebration of the state’s liberation.
He praised Major Isaac Adaka Boro for standing for equity, justice, and fair play, and for fighting for the liberation of the Ijaw people and their clans.
The Governor emphasized that every genuine Rivers man is a liberator, regardless of their ethnic group.
He stated, “We have a common purpose: to liberate our dear State. And I’m happy that you’ve come here today to re-enact that purpose.”
Governor Fubara revealed that the recent crisis in the state was aimed at disrupting his one-year anniversary celebration, but those behind it have been defeated.
He said, “We have already defeated them. They are the ones sleeping with their eyes open, showing that we have the Ijaw blood – the blood of action, less talk, more action.”
The Governor urged Ijaw youths to celebrate the Major Isaac Adaka Boro Day peacefully and to be good ambassadors of the Ijaw Nation.
