Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, has weighed in on the ongoing calls for the removal of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum. Moro described the call as needless and emphasized the importance of unity within the party.
Addressing the frustrations among party members following the PDP’s failure to win elections in 2023, Moro stressed the need to focus on strengthening unity rather than engaging in divisive actions. He noted that the lack of frequent meetings by the party’s elective council has contributed to the discontent among members.
Moro refuted the idea that simply calling for Damagum’s resignation would solve the party’s problems, stating “You don’t solve a problem by running away from the problem.” He urged party members to understand that the PDP is a voluntary organization and called for a more constructive approach to addressing internal issues.
Despite the challenges faced by the party, Moro expressed optimism about the upcoming meetings, including one called by the National Executive Committee on the 18th and others organized by various party organizations in the following week. He remains hopeful that these meetings will pave the way for unity and progress within the PDP.
