It was gathered by Hobnob News reports that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, has outlined a strategic approach for the party to enhance its political presence in the South East.
According to Hobnob News, he expressed the intention to leverage the recent success in the Imo governorship election as a launching point for extending the party’s reach to the remaining states of Abia, Anambra, and Enugu.
During a meeting with the Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, the former Kano State governor shared his perspective.
He emphasized that the comprehensive victory across all 27 Local Government Areas in the recent governorship election in Imo is evidence of the APC’s growing acceptance in the geopolitical zone.
Ganduje, in his capacity as the APC National Chairman, highlighted the party’s strategy to capitalize on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s second term bid.
“The goal is to solidify the party’s acceptance and demonstrate the credibility of its governance structures. This will encourage the people of the region to align with the APC’s vision and values.
“We are going to take full advantage of the victory we have in Imo State for our governor going for a second term.
“We won the election in all the 27 Local government areas, and we won with over half a million votes. Ebonyi and Imo are APC, but we are eyeing the three other states. We are going to use Imo State as a launch pad to win the zone to APC.” He added that APC is determined to bring States like Enugu into its fold.”
The APC National Chairman further revealed the party’s plan to initiate electronic registration of its members at the ward, local government, and state levels. This strategic move aims to accurately identify existing members while creating accessible avenues for new members to join the party.
Apparently, he rejected the Minister’s plea to exclude Enugu State natives, whom he referred to as ‘APC in Abuja but PDP in Enugu,’ from participating in the collaborative efforts of the APC in the upcoming 2023 election.
It was gathered by our correspondent that Ganduje, instead, emphasized the importance of party unity, highlighting the establishment of a reconciliation committee tasked with harmonizing members across all states.
The APC leader acknowledged the existing challenges in certain states and emphasized that the path forward involves collective efforts to build a cohesive party that can draw support from external sources.
