PDP Accuses Ex-Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and Associates of Defecting to APC

In a surprising turn of events, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State has accused former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim and a few of his close associates of leaving the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP claims that Anyim, along with Sen Obinna Ogba and some local government chairmen of the party, had publicly declared their support for the APC before and during the 2023 general elections.

According to the PDP, Anyim and his associates had long abandoned the party but were merely waiting for the right opportunity to make their defection official. The party has stated that these individuals had already joined the APC and were seeking to create a façade of leaving the PDP. The PDP in Ebonyi State has distanced itself from Anyim and his lieutenants, asserting that they have forgotten their existence within the party.

The PDP urges the public and the press to disregard this news, suggesting that the APC is using it as a distraction to divert attention from the party’s attempts to reclaim its mandate at the tribunal. The PDP further emphasizes that Anyim and his cohorts ceased to be members of the party well before the 2023 polls. The party promptly filled their positions with their seconds-in-command, making their claims of leaving the party obsolete.

The PDP in Ebonyi State remains focused on its goals, undeterred by the alleged defection of Anyim and his associates. The party is determined to continue fighting for justice in reclaiming its mandate. As the legal process unfolds, the PDP calls on its members, supporters, and the general public to have faith in the party and remain resolute in their commitment to upholding democratic ideals.

The PDP’s assertion that Anyim and his lieutenants had long joined the APC will surely add a new dimension to the political landscape in Ebonyi State. Only time will tell how these developments will impact the already charged political atmosphere in the state.
