In a move to enhance the efficiency and transformation of the Nigerian civil service, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Prof. Tunji Olaopa as the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission. This appointment is subject to the confirmation of the Senate, as announced by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
The newly appointed Chairman, along with 11 other members, is set to lead and direct the affairs of the country’s civil service, starting from November 30, 2023. These members comprise Dr. Daudu Jalo, Gekpe Isu, Dr. Chamberlain Nwele, Rufus Godwins, Dr. Adamu Hussein, Aminu Nabegu, Hindatu Abdullahi, Shehu Aliyu, Odekunle Aduke, Jide Jimoh, and Dr. Festus Oyebade. Hailing from various states in the country, they will work in collaboration with the Chairman to bring about transformation, reorientation, and digitization of the Federal Bureaucracy.
President Tinubu expressed his optimism that the new leadership of the FCSC would not only facilitate these changes effectively but also attract private sector participation in the development of the Nigerian economy. This aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, which aims to foster growth and progress across various sectors.
To ensure a seamless transition, the new FCSC leadership is expected to commence their duties on November 30, 2023. This follows the conclusion of the tenure of the current Federal Civil Service Commission Chairman and membership, set to end on November 29, 2023.
