Election Tribunal Sacks Bayelsa PDP Rep, Orders Re-Run

The member representing Sagbama-Ekeremor Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Fred Agbedi, has been sacked by the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Bayelsa State.

 

The tribunal in a judgment delivered on Thursday, in Yenagoa by Justice Sylvester Odili on the petition marked EPT/BY/HR/01/2023 filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Michael Olomu, voided the election of the PDP candidate.

 

The electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had declared Agbedi, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate winner of the election, with an official vote of 21, 430 votes, while Olomu had a total of 8,899 votes in the February 25 House of Representatives polls.

 

The Tribunal ordered that the certificate of return issued to the PDP candidate be withdrawn.
