Barely 24 hours after taking over power, the new National Working Committee of the Labour Party under the leadership of its acting national chairman, Lamidi Apapa, on Friday, declared its support for presidential candidate of the LP in the February 25 general election, Peter Obi.
While expressing optimism that Obi would reclaim his “election victory mandate” allegedly denied him by the declaration of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the party said it would unveil detailed strategies aimed at recovering the peoples mandate.
The National Publicity Secretary of LP, Arabambi Abayomi, in a statement, quoted Apapa as assuring Nigerians to have fate in the new NWC and its leadership in order to achieve the desires of Nigerians for a progressive, prosperous and stable country.
He said, “Obi and the entire stakeholders of the party and Nigerians are enjoined to be steadfast as the leadership of LP is committed to the mandated recovery of the Labour Party 2023 presidential election results victory in the Presidential Election Tribunal.
“Apapa stated that the LP NWC and NEC shall unveil detailed strategies aimed at recovering the peoples mandate that is now hanging before the Presidential Election Tribunal.
“The NWC pledges to unveil its national programs that will impact on the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians and Nigeria going forward and enjoy party members to conduct themselves in a civilized manners at all time.”
