Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment Into Council For Legal Education

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Chief Paul Harris Ogbole (SAN), former Member of the Board of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and ex-Chairman, Otukpo Local Government Council of Benue State, as a member of the Council for Legal Education for a period of four years.

The terms of appointment, which take effect from 13th May 2023, were contained in a letter signed by the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Mrs B.E. Jedy Agba.

Inaugurating the council in Abuja on Tuesday on behalf of President Buhari, the Honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN), charged the council members to live up to the expectations of their callings and according to their terms of appointment.

Aside from the 36 state attorneys-general, the newly inaugurated council, which has Chief Emeka Ngige (SAN) as chairman, also has 17 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) nominees as members.

The members include NBA President, Mr Yakubu Maikyau, leading Evidence Law author, Mr. Sebastine Hon, Chief Ogbole, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Roberts and others.

Established in 1962, the Council for Legal Education, which oversees Nigerian Law Schools, is responsible for legal education and professional training of aspirants to the bar as well as discipline of aspirants.

The council also undertakes accreditation of Law faculties and trainings at Nigerian Law Schools across the country.
