2027: Regina Akume Picks APC Nomination Forms for Re-election, Eunice Ortom Eyes Senate Seat

Regina Akume, wife of  the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has obtained the nomination and expression of interest forms of the (APC) to seek a second term in the House of Representatives.

Akume is aiming to retain her seat representing the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections.

The former First Lady of was first elected into the National Assembly in 2023 on the platform of the APC, where she defeated of the (PDP).

The 71-year-old APC chieftain picked up her nomination forms on Friday at the party’s headquarters in , accompanied by supporters and key party stakeholders.

Speaking to journalists shortly after obtaining the forms, Akume said her decision to seek re-election followed extensive consultations with party leaders, political stakeholders, and constituents across her constituency.

She noted that the encouragement she received was largely based on her performance in the 10th National Assembly, which she described as a motivating factor to continue her legislative work.

Meanwhile, , the immediate past First Lady of Benue State, has also declared her intention to contest the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in the forthcoming elections, setting the stage for heightened political activities in the state ahead of 2027.
