Tragedy struck Agana/Mbatsada community in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, as suspected armed herders launched a deadly हमला that left more than ten people feared dead and several others injured.
The attack occurred at about 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, when the assailants reportedly invaded the village, shooting sporadically and causing panic among residents.
Local sources disclosed that the attack led to multiple casualties, with the injured currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the area. Meanwhile, thousands of residents from the affected communities have fled their homes, seeking refuge in safer locations including Ikpayongo in Mbasombo Council Ward and Ayar in Mbalom Council Ward.
So far, the identities of some of the victims have been confirmed as:

- Akenawe Oraduen David (aka Igyoi)
- Binta Aondoakaa
- Binta Asunda
- Chenkele
- Ayange Gbogbo (aka Area Fada)
- Suega Adee (aka Usman)
- Ajam Ageli
- Spaco (aka Insexy)
Community youths have continued search efforts, as several persons are still reported missing following the attack .
The incident has further heightened tensions in the area, with residents calling for urgent intervention by security agencies to restore peace and prevent further loss of lives.
Authorities are yet to release an official statement as at the time of filing this report.
