“Gawuna Bolts ADC: Former Kano Deputy Governor Dumps APC”
Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the former Kano State Deputy Governor and 2023 APC governorship candidate, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He received his membership card at his Gawuna Ward in Nasarawa Local Government Area, accompanied by notable figures like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Gawuna’s defection is seen as a significant boost to the ADC in Kano, given his influence and performance in the 2023 governorship election, where he polled 890,705 votes. This move is part of a broader political realignment in Kano ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He recently resigned as Chairman of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) Governing Board, citing President Bola Tinubu’s directive for political appointees to step down in compliance with the Electoral Act.
