Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the most qualified Southern politician to lead Nigeria beyond 2027.
Ganduje made the statement in Abuja while receiving a delegation of youth leaders from the 19 northern states. He dismissed suggestions that the North would oppose Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing such views as misguided.
According to him, anyone assuming that Northern voters would support another candidate in the 2027 presidential election is making a serious error. Ganduje stressed that no other politician from Southern Nigeria is better prepared to govern the country after 2027 than Tinubu.
He said the president’s long-standing involvement in politics sets him apart, noting that Nigeria is fortunate to have a leader whose life has been deeply rooted in political activism and democratic ideals.
Ganduje also highlighted Tinubu’s role in the pro-democracy struggle, recalling his sacrifices during the military era, including going into exile to ensure the survival of democracy in Nigeria.
The former Kano State governor further referenced a prior political understanding reached before the election of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which, he said, guaranteed a return of power to the South after eight years.
He added that Tinubu has spent less than four years in office but has already introduced significant reforms aimed at boosting Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
